Stolen Kings and Iron Gods

The Stolen Lands have long resisted attempts at colonization. Wedged between the River Kingdoms to the south, Brevoy to the North, and the tribal wasteland of Numeria to the west, the approximately 35,000 square-mile swath of wilderness has a long history of being regarded as 'stolen' – though from and by whom varies depending on the speaker.

In Brevoy, the land is considered stolen by barbarians and bandits variously from Numeria, Iobaria, or the River Kingdoms. In the River Kingdoms, the general impression is that Brevoy allowed the place to fall into the hands of monsters and worse, in order to reduce the Kingdoms' influence. The Numerian tribes generally regard them as having been stolen by a disaster they refer to as "The Rain of Stars". To make matters worse, within the land itself there are constant struggles over territory between kobolds, fey, trolls, bandits, lizardfolk, and even technological horrors, all skirmishing to expand their holdings and seize technological sites.

The end result is The Stolen Lands don't really belong to anyone. Not in any kind of concrete sense. Everyone has a claim they could push.

Now, with tensions rising in Brevoy thanks to the mysterious disappearance of the entire royal line, in a bold political move, the nobles of southern Brevoy have begun funding pioneers to enter into The Stolen Lands to claim a piece of wilderness for themselves. Their hope is that you, and others like you, will forge new nations that will support Rostland in its coming bid for control of the Dragonscale Throne. Yet, as with all complex and brilliant plans, there are plenty of opportunities for disaster. Will you be able to hold on to the land you have claimed? Will your new nation hold to its promises? Will those who sponsored you hold to theirs?

Time will tell.
